Maxon Cinebench R10
We begin with Maxon Cinebench. It's based on the animation software Cinema 4D, used in a number of movies such as Spider-Man, Star Wars and The Chronicles of Narnia. It has a component that tests the processor performance and has also good multi-threading support.
In this benchmark the only thing we see is the process of rendering a huge picture. The picture is separated equally to the amount of threads and every fictitious "processor" gets a task. Should one crunches his faster he is given to chew on what's available. If nothing else it looks cool :)
Same here, just as with OpenGL, the performance of the test system is almost twice as high. With performance of main processor being about 50% higher.
Maxon Cinebench R11.5
We now have a more recent version of this benchmark, so some testing with is going to be only beneficial:
With the more recent tool differences are lesser. Eventually MSI GT640X despite its weaker central and graphical processor does perform better.
Paint.NET x32 3.05
Paint.NET is one of the best free image editors. The program is far from attempting to replace Adobe Photoshop, but for the everyday optimization and small changes of your images its doing just fine. Even more - it is an Open Source program, and that way a myriad of applications and plugins based on it or for it could be made. PDNBench is exactly that kind of plugin, performing a variety of different operations, commonly used when editing pictures - scaling, zooming, decreasing, cutting, compressing and so on.
Again the faster processor and the additional 2GB of RAM are evidently beneficial.
Lame 3.97 Benchmark
As the name suggests, this is the famously known software for audio encoding in LAME, with multi-threading support. We used the benchmark with the supplied 20MB .WAV fail, compressed in .MP3 of course.
Here results are identical.
