Pros
  • Cool design
  • Cuda
  • Nice bundle
  • Able to be mounted on the back of a monitor
  • Small
  • 3D performance (some at least)
  • Support of up to 4GB RAM memory

Cons
  • Heavy OS
  • Uncomfortable keyboard
  • Overall performance equal to similar systems
  • Stock 2GB of RAM is insufficient for Vista

Acer Aspire Revo R3600 is the first nettop of a completely new generation. It's sexy, lightweight, power efficient and yet sufficiently capable in 3D. While the rest of it is just as in any similar system, it's still capable to fill the shoes of a HTPC system. Acer Aspire Revo R3600, however is not a replacement of a desktop system. Yes, it has good multimedia performance because of its graphical processor, but alas, its Atom partner just doesn't have the necessary computing power to utilize the full potential of this architecture. The fact that the machine comes coupled with 2GB Ram memory is nice, but mind you that still does not allow comfortable work in Windows Vista. The best thing is not only that you can always upgrade the memory, but also that newer models will soon become available, models that will be cheaper on account of them using a free open source OS. As for the price of £250 – it's competitive to the ones of the similar Intel chipset based nettops. We so expect lots of nettops like this in the future, and the dual core Atom is on its way so, basically the nettop segment of the market promises a lot more variety, even if it is tad disappointing as it is for now.
