For the body of the flash drive I used magic glue.

After that I polished and cut a part from the flash drive metal body. For the very simple purpose of letting the led activity indicator to blink in the eyes of the scull. I poured more hot glue on top of the drive, because there it would be attached the screw that will act as a extending/retracting button.

I do believe that I must write this on my wall „If I’m not bleeding, than I’m not working hard enough”. Come to think of it I’ve never created a mod without “adding” at least a drop of blood. Well actually usually it’s much more :), but for such a small mod that’s enough I guess...

So, the only thing left to be done was the painting, the base would be gold. I prepped and painted everything, quite shiny it got, almost inappropriately. But I had a technique to try for this too. Unlike most paints the metallic ones I’ve used (silver/gold/copper) definitely aren’t touch dry after mere 10-15 minutes as they state, not even in a warm day. After an hour or two – maybe. So the trick here is to use a paper tape on the paint that’s been drying for an hour and removing it instantly, this way particles of the paint peal along with it. And when you have a dark base some surfaces could get to look like unpolished metal cast even. You can’t really tell from the photo, but I’m happy with it, though there’s always room for improvement.

Masked again and sprayed black.
