As we already mentioned for the test we used Seagate 300GB Barracuda 7200.11 hard drive. The tests were concluded with HDD Tach, Quick Bench, Long Bench.
SATA (directly connected to the computer motherboard)

As you can see the results from the SATA and eSATA are very close, so you really won't feel any difference between having the drive inside the computer or outside in a separate case. As for the USB test – the controller is performing quite adequately.
Temperature
The temperature under load is measured after 20 minutes of disk defragmentation:

The temperature of the hard drive remains within acceptable, despite the plastic frame its mounted to. The openings on the bottom of the case apparently do help.
